Portuguese Shrimp Mozambique is a flavorful seafood dish rooted in Portuguese and Mozambican culinary traditions. Despite its name, it originated in Portugal, inspired by Mozambique’s influence. It's known for its vibrant, zesty flavor with a gentle heat. Traditionally served with crusty bread, rice, or fries, Shrimp Mozambique is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that brings together the bold, aromatic flavors of the Iberian Peninsula and Africa.

 

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 lbs shrimp
  • 6 oz white wine
  • 10 strands saffron
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 tsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 lemon for juice and zest
  • 1-2 tbsp piri piri hot sauce
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 cups rice, cooked
  • Parsley garnish
