Portuguese Lemon Cookies (Broinhas) Recipe

These delicious Portuguese lemon cookies (broinhas de limão) are so easy to make and make a great snack.

Ingredients

1/2 cup of softened butter2 medium eggsZest of 1 lemon1 and 1/4 cups of sugar (about 250gr)3 cups of flour (about 370gr)1 teaspoon of baking powderPowdered sugar (to taste)

Get Portuguese ingredients

Directions

  1. Beat the butter with the sugar and the lemon zest until creamy.
  2. Add the eggs and continue to beat.
  3. Add the flour and the baking powder and mix until the flour is absorbed and place in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  4. Make small balls.
  5. Pass the balls through the powdered sugar.
  6. Arrange on a tray lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake in a preheated over at 200ºC or 400ºF for about 10 minutes or until slightly golden.
  8. Remove from oven, cool and serve.
