Recipe Tips

Ensure that the cod is soaked for at least 24 hours, changing the water several times, to remove excess salt and achieve the best flavor and texture. Skipping this step may result in an overly salty dish.
When sautéing the onions and garlic, cook them slowly over medium-low heat until they are soft and translucent, which will enhance their sweetness and deepen the flavor of the dish. Avoid high heat, as this can cause them to burn and become bitter.
Consider pre-cooking the potatoes by boiling them until just tender before adding them to the dish. This will ensure they cook evenly and absorb the flavors of the cod and spices without becoming mushy. A common mistake is to add raw potatoes directly, which can lead to uneven cooking.
