Ingredients

4 eggs split into yolks and whites1 teaspoon of baking powder1 stick of butter (1/2 cup or 113g)200 grams of sugar (about 1 1/2 cups)200 grams of flour (1 1/2 cups)2 teaspoons of caramel sauce1 pineapple sliced1 9" round cake pan

Get Portuguese ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C or 350F.
  2. Cream the sugar and butter together and when it's creamy, add the egg yolks and beat until well blended.
  3. Add the sifted flour and baking powder and beat until blended.
  4. Fold in beaten egg whites.
  5. In the cake pan, pour a little caramel sauce and line the base with sliced pineapple.
  6. Pour the cake mixture over the pineapple and cover with further slices of pineapple.
  7. Bake for about 25 minutes or until ready.
